While countries like China and India continue to produce a technical workforce at a faster rate than the United States, California's standing as one of
the world's largest economies continues to drop. Unless this very serious concern is addressed, the current quality of life in California will
cease to exist or be greatly diminished.
Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) education is critical to U.S. national security and economic prosperity. Yet our latest finding show a shortage of qualified math and science teachers, continued underrepresentation of women and minorities in STEM fields, and an ineffective technical talent pipeline needed to address the millions of engineers and scientists who will retire between 2010 and 2025.
This panel will address the STEM Solution to the Education Crisis. Panelists will be asked to comment on:
During the first two hours, the moderator will offer opening remarks and each panelist will share ten to fifteen minutes of formal remarks, followed by questions from the audience. The last half hour will be devoted to closing remarks from the panelists and moderator.
